FAQ for Interested Students

What kind of student would be a strong fit for the lab?

The most successful students in our lab tend to share the following characteristics:

  • Aligned Research Interests: Students with interests that meaningfully complement the lab's ongoing work in trauma, anxiety, and stress-related disorders.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Students who thrive in a team-based environment and are eager to contribute to shared research efforts.

  • Initiative for Independent Projects: Students who are motivated to pursue their own research ideas that align with the lab’s overarching mission or can contribute to ongoing projects in a meaningful way.

  • Research-Driven Career Goals: Students who are primarily pursuing clinical research-oriented careers working with clinical populations (e.g., academic or research-intensive clinical careers). While all students are welcome, a strong commitment to research and publication is expected during your time in the program.

Can I contact you or your students if I have questions about the lab or one of the psychology graduate programs at UTSA?

I recommend that interested undergraduate students submit an application using the link at the top of this this page.
